Research On The Factors Influencing Knowledge Transfer Of Corporate International Cooperation In Research And Development

The development of knowledge economy and R&D internationalization promptslots of MNCs to come to China,having R&D cooperation with China’s enterprises,which offers an opportunity for China’s enterprises to improve their capability ofindependent innovation using knowledge transfer theory. But the fact is that China’senterprises’ capability of independent innovation doesn’t improve effectively with theR&D cooperation. Collaborative R&D of Chinese and foreign enterprises showsasymmetric features, including asymmetry of strength and learning objectives.Chinese enterprises are usually at a disadvantage in the R&D cooperation, leading toChinese enterprises are unable to participate in the R&D of core technology. In orderto maintain their competitive advantage, MNCs do not want to share the core skillsand knowledge with our companies, protecting them from our companies at the sametime. Therefore, it will help continue to improve innovation capability of Chineseenterprises by effectively grasping the law of knowledge transfer in the R&Dcooperation between MNCs and Chinese enterprises, making sure the main factorsaffecting knowledge transfer and their impact path, promoting the effective transferof MNCs’ knowledge to our companies.This paper’s main object of study is the collaborative R&D between Chineseand foreign enterprises in China, with manufacturing for example, analyzing thepractical problems that exist in the collaborative R&D. Firstly, the paper analyzes thesymmetric features of the collaborative R&D between Chinese and foreign enterprises,and based on the knowledge transfer processes and process elements, establishes theknowledge transfer process model of international cooperation in R&D. Secondly,this paper regards knowledge characteristics, knowledge transfer source, knowledgereceiver,characteristics of cooperation as the elements of international cooperation inR&D knowledge transfer process, and based on the elements of these four processes,the paper detailedly analyzes the influencing factors of knowledge transfer ofinternational cooperation in R&D. Then, according to the theories and methods ofsystem dynamics, this paper builds the System Dynamics Model of the influencingfactors of knowledge transfer of international cooperation in R&D. Discussed afterthe model simulation results were analyzed, the paper identified the main factorsaffecting international cooperation in R&D knowledge transfer and the impact path,providing a basis to promote the effective transfer of knowledge of internationalcooperation in R&D, and to improve the R&D and innovation capability of China’senterprises. After that, this paper puts forward policy proposals to enhanceinternational cooperation in R&D knowledge transfer from business and government on two levels. Finally, the paper takes the Dongan Engine Co. Ltd for example,analyzes the knowledge transfer situation of international cooperation in R&D. Theresults show that China’s enterprises can significantly improve their own R&Dcapabilities through international cooperation in R&D, the effect of knowledgetransfer is obvious. Besides, the problems exist in the corporate internationalcooperation in research and development explain that the main factors affectingresearch and development capabilities and knowledge transfer are not the equipment,and other physical factors, but human resources and organizational resources.
