With the fast development of financial globalization, financial service industry has become the supporting point for the economic development of many nations. Insurance service industry, as one of the main financial industries, is becoming the core of this industry and plays an important role for the social development. Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei are listed on the top among the other cities regarding the development of the nation’s insurance service pattern. Since Beijing is the location of the headquarters of many insurance company, its influence of radiation stimulates the development of the insurance service industry in Being, Tianjin and Hebei. As a result of this, the investigation of the insurance service industry in these cities is of great necessity and representativeness.This research focuses on the spatial distribution and evolution of the insurance service industry in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Quantitative analysis has been made regarding the demand factors which influence property insurance and personal insurance. All these arc beneficial to the optimization and development of the spatial distribution of the insurance service industry in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The first two chapters introduce the background and significance of this research and the related studies both in domestic and abroad respectively. With the help of the statistical yearbook of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and the insurance statistical yearbook, chapter3investigated the development status of the insurance service industry in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei from the perspective of increment, growth rate, contribution rate, market concentration, location quotient, Gini coefficient, etc.Chapter4analyses the spatial distribution of insurance service industry from the perspective of its overall development level, regional distribution of the quantities of the insurance companies and inner industry distribution characteristics. Its spatial evolution characteristics are investigated from the point of overall development level and inner industry distribution characteristics. The result shows that there are significant differences regarding the development level of the insurance service industry among Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei in2011. The density and depth of insurance are polarized obviously. The spatial distribution of the insurance company shows a core-periphery model and the pyramidal rank structure can be used to describe the quantities of the insurance company, which is characterized as concentrated in low value while decentralized in high. From2002to2011, the spatial polarization of Beijing and Tianjin is weaken while its rank remains the same. Influenced by the trickle-down effect in the core region, the insurance development level in lower-tier cities is increasing continuously. At the same time, Beijing and other cities complement each other in the development of insurance level and there is a good development momentum in the regional insurance service industry. In2011, the property insurance mainly includes motor vehicle insurance and other small kinds. The main kind of personal insurance is life insurance by bonus share. From2002to2011, except for the motor vehicle insurance and other kinds, the value of Gi for the remaining property insurance shows a great increase, as well as the concentration rate. From2008to2011, new kinds of personal insurance developed quickly while the traditional one slowed down in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The premium income gap between the traditional and new type insurances is becoming greater.Chapter5discusses the factors that influence the demands of property insurance and personal insurance. Chapter6summarized the research and made the conclusion. Shortcomings of this thesis are also proposed.
