The Strategy Research Of CG Corporation Carrying Out VMI Mode On Refractory Materials

The basic ideas in this paper is vendor managed inventory (VMI) under the supplychain management and research object is VMI of refractory materials in CG Corporation.According to the corporation’s safety inventory volume is too large in management ofrefractory materials, information feedback time too long, Stock funds occupy too large,Overstocked products scrapped seriously and can’t timely and accurately reflect theproblems of the consumption and cost indicators, using quantitative and qualitativeresearch methods and combination of theory and practice, put forward the specificstrategies to implement the refractory materials VMI mode.The article discusses the necessity and feasibility of CG corporation to implement therefractory materials VMI and the goal of the implementation of VMI mode. In order toimplement the VMI mode, the corporation should accelerate the change of its internalorganization and procurement model, establish the specific process of strategic partners,formulate the VMI agreement and the running protection. In the process of implementationof VMI, there are many problems to face: chaotic management and the extend responsetime of supply chain caused by new management, information platform construction is notin place, poor data in a timely manner, duplication configuration or excessive inventoryconfiguration, place undue reliance on suppliers, monopoly supply benefit-sharingmechanism has not really established. This article analyze these problems in detail andgive the following specific countermeasures: reduce internal management processes toimprove efficiency, perfect the unattended measurement system, introduce the third-partylogistics to solve the problem of duplication configuration, improve the accuracy ofdemand forecasts, break the monopoly to improve the bargaining ability of CG company,establish the supply chain benefit-sharing mechanism.This article put forward implementation of VMI model strategy research ideas andmethods based on the corporation case studies achieved good economic and social benefitsin the corporate practice. Research, especially to improve metallurgical enterprises’ VMImodel, has certain significance in theory and practice for modern enterprise.
