With the continuous worsen of the global warming problem, the importance of developing low-carbon economy, which is a new model of economic development, has been widely recognized. Since China’s power industry plays an important role in energy conservation and emission reduction, energy saving in power industry has become an urgent task for the development of low-carbon economy. Grid loss is a comprehensive technical and economic indicator which reflects the level of the power supply enterprise grid planning and design, technology and equipment and economic operation. It is an important symbol of measuring the power supply enterprise management level. Reducing losses can not only reduce the cost of electricity power supply enterprises, but also supply an important way for enterprises to achieve emission reduction targets.The Linfen Grid is formed earlier, and due to historical reasons, the grid layout is not very reasonable. With the deepening of the urban power grid and rural power grid renovation project, the grid structure tends to be improved. In this case, it is great significant to research Linfen Grid’s loss reduction. It can find the issues that affect power system’s economic operation, guide the grid revolution, further to find out the structure of Linfen Grid losses, improve the management of grid losses, and finally ensure the safe and economic operation of the power grid in Linfen.In this paper, grid loss reduction strategies are studied by setting the power supply company of Linfen as the empirical research object. Firstly, the paper analyzed the relevance of low-carbon economy and energy saving. Secondly, from the perspective of direct and indirect contribution, this paper analyzed the contribution elements of grid enterprises to the low-carbon economy, summarized evaluation index system of low-carbon contribution of the power grid enterprises, and built an evaluation model. Thirdly, combined with the actual situation of the power company grid development in Linfen, evaluate the low-carbon benefits of loss reduction measures was evaluated, which lay a realistic basis for the proposed technical loss reduction strategy. Finally, technology strategies of reducing losses are proposed from the aspect of planning and construction, operation and maintenance, operation and management. This paper provides a meaningful reference for Linfen’s line loss management.
