Along with the continuous development of the exhibition industry, the role ofexhibition economy in China’s social and economic development has becomeincreasingly prominent. As an important part of the modern service industry, theexhibition industry plays an important role in improving city service functions,enhancing city image, and promoting economic development and urban construction,and it stimulates the development of relevant industries. However, due to the lack ofexhibition resources, most of the exhibition venues are facing the problem of lowutilization after their completion. Except for the exhibition-intense major cities likeBeijing and Shanghai, the average utilization rate of the exhibition centers throughoutthe country is less than30%currently. Qingdao International Exhibition Center wascompleted in2010. As the largest exhibition venue in the northern region, the ExpoCenter has due to poor location and fierce competition, the Expo Center is under hugeoperating pressures.In order to solve the problem of how to operate exhibition venues under thecurrent situations, the thesis takes Qingdao International Expo Center as the studyingobject and studies how to survive under the current situation and the competitiveenvironment. In accordance with the general pattern of the exhibition venues, rentalsare the major source of income of Qingdao International Expo Center, yet it is notsufficient to sustain the operations of the Expo Center. The thesis adopts the SWOTanalysis method to analyze of the current situation and the internal and externalenvironment of the Expo Center, combined with the operating experience of theinternationally renowned exhibition venues, brings up the operating strategies forQingdao International Expo Center in the next three to five years. Implement operating strategies and service strategies and adopt various ways, such as runningself-organized expos, hosting blue-economic theme exhibition, etc., to seize theopportunity of expanding brand name, training exhibition personnel, and gaining acompetitive edge in marketing promotion projects. In addition, during theimplementation of the Exhibition projects, provide quality one-stop service solutionfor its targeting customers, in order to win good reputation and competitive advantage,and in the end, guarantee a normal and healthy operation of the Expo Center in threeyears. The next three to five years are a time of opportunity for Qingdao InternationalExpo Centre. Finally, the thesis proposes measures to guarantee the effectiveimplementation of the operating strategies and service strategies, laying a goodfoundation for Qingdao International Expo Centre’s future prosperity.
