An Empirical Research Into The Relation Between R&D Input And Output In Domestic’s And Foreign’s High-tech Enterprises

With the global economic integration, more and more foreign enterprises enter to our country and bring opportunities and challenges to our high and new technology enterprise.The improvement of technoloical innovative ability can’t do without efficient R&D activities, and at present the research about the difference between domestic and foreign high-tech enterprise in R&D activities is less. In view of this situation, a comparative study about the relationship of R&D input and output in domestic and foreign high-tech enterprise will be discussed in this paper.Based on the theory of R&D input and output from home and abroad, this paper choosed the high and new technology enterprises which were distributed throughout the national high-tech industrial development zone as the research object, and constructed the R&D input and output index system, then compared and analysed the current situation of the R&D input and output in the nearly45000domestic and foreign high-tech enterprises. It would do empirical analysis from three aspects which were domestic and foreign high-tech enterprises, domestic and foreign high-tech enterprises in the same high-tech industry, and domestic and foreign high-tech enterprises from the different high-tech industry. And the empirical analysis consisted of relative index’s unit of input and the regression analysis about R&D input and output. This paper obtained the same result through the analysis. There are three characteristics in R&D input and output between domestic and foreign high-tech enterprise. Firstly, foreign high-tech enterprises are superior to domestic enterprises in the invention patent out; Secondly, foreign high-tech enterprises are superior to domestic enterprises in the new product sales income; Thirdly, the R&D funds play a more important role than R&D staff in R&D input’s contribution to the output between domestic and foreign high-tech enterprise. On the basis of the empirical result,there are some enlightenment effect for domestic enterprises of our country, such as strengthening patent protection, increasing R&D funds, and improving enterprise technology innovation mechanism and the structure of the R&D staff.Although this paper obtained some significant conclusions, there are some shortcomings.Because of the limitation of the data, some aspects such as the time lag in R&D activities and other affecting factors are lacking for the research. And the index selection also has certain limitation. Thus it needs continuous inprovement with the deepening of the research in the future.
