The21st century is the century of life science and the biological pharmaceutical industry will become the pillar industry in the field of high-tech in the21st century. There is a huge economic opportunity and broad market prospect, with the biological pharmaceutical industry having high technology content, low energy consumption, low environment pressure and strong drive efficiency characteristics. At the same time, the biological pharmaceutical industry has a huge role to the national economy and becomes an important industry in the world. Due to the biological pharmaceutical industry occupies the important position in national economy,it is worth to reserch how to make the biological pharmaceutical industry in China have a competitive advantage in the international market. To solve this problem, we must first have a clear understanding of the present development situation and the problems of the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry. Only in this way can we know the main factors, which affect the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry competitiveness.Firstly, this paper analyses the development present situation, characteristics and problems of the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry.Secondly, based on the diamond model we analyses the main factors, which affect the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry competitiveness.They include the production element, demand condition, interrelated and sustaining industries, enterprise strategy, structure and competitors, policy and opportunity. Thirdly, we construct the comprehensive evaluation model of the biological pharmaceutical industry competitiveness, and find out the main factors with the method of factor analysis so as to evaluate the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry competitiveness. Finally, we put forward some countermeasures and suggestions to promote the competitiveness of the biopharmaceutical industry in China.The main conclusions are:(1) The main characteristics of the biopharmaceutical industry in China include that the size of the industry is small but grows fast; Market share is low, but the upside is big; The low-level drug production capacity is excess, but the high-level drug production capacity is insufficient; Industrial agglomeration begins to take shape, but the regional development is uneven.(2) The main problems of the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry competitiveness include that the industrialization level is low and the industrial chain is not perfect; Innovation ability is not strong; Redundant construction is serious.(3) The production factor of the biopharmaceutical industry in China is enough, and the market demand is strong. The related and supporting industries begin to take shape and the business competition is intense gradually. The policy environment is so good that the biopharmaceutical industry has a good development opportunity.(4) The main factors that affect China’s biopharmaceutical industry competitiveness include business ability, product profitability and environmental supporting capacity. Among them, the business ability is the most important factor influencing the biological pharmaceutical industry competitiveness.(5) In addition to the decline in1998and2010, other years are the trend of rising year by year, especially since2006China’s biopharmaceutical industry competitiveness has presented a geometric growth.
