From the1990s, climate change, especially global warming issue has beentreated as top ten global environmental problem. Now greenhouse effect is ahuge environmental problem, which also stems from greenhouse gas emissions.Among all greenhouse gases, CO2has the greatest impact on climate change.China is a developing country with many provincial areas. Figuring out therelationship between carbon dioxide emissions and economic growth in eachprovincial region is of a very important theoretical and practical significance onthe basis of sustainable development strategy and low-carbon economy. This paper introduces the theories how economic development have animpact on environment and analyzes China’s regional economic development andcarbon emissions situation, then summarizes the mechanism of carbon emissioninfluencing factors to regional difference. Based on the theoretical principles ofenvironmental Kuznets hypothesis and reasonable theoretical explanation, thispaper proposes the CKC (Carbon Kuznets Curve) hypothesis. On the basis oftheoretical analysis, it explores the inter-relationship between GDP per capitaand carbon emission per capita of China’s29provinces. At first, this paperinnovatively estimates carbon emissions in every province by using energycombustion chemistry. Then linear, quadratic, cubic regression models wereestimated adopting OLS regression to study the trend of dynamic change betweeneconomic growth and carbon emission of China’s29provinces and examine theCKC Hypothesis. It turns out that the status of our various provincial regions stillbasically does not meet CKC of the inverted U-shaped curve, but showing fourkinds of forms, namely U-shaped, inverted U-shaped, straight and inverted Ntype. Moreover, to further study the different characteristics, this paper adoptsrandom effect model with variable intercept after unit root test, cointegration test,F-test and Hausman test. After that, we make generalized least squares regressionthrough Eviews6.0. As a result, carbon emission and economic growth is in aninverted N-type relationship. In addition, it firstly proposes the concept of theoriginal carbon emissions, and describes the differences and the causes amongdifferent provinces. Finally, policy recommendation is given on advancedtechnology, energy consumption structure, industrial structure and terrestrialecosystems according to the empirical results and the status in each province.
