Study On Migrant Workers In Western Poverty Line

With the acceleration of reform and opening up as well as urbanization,a growing number of people from rural areas flow into big cities.They are called migrant workers due to their special position between workers and farmers.Being an integral part of the work force in cities of China,migrant workers has made marveclous contributions to China in its efforts towards economic development establishment of a moderately prosperous society and modernation.However,migrant workers haven’t got their due share in national economic achievements and are subjected to poverty given their poor living conditions in cities.At present,the overwhelmingly majority of improvished people are scattered in China’s rural areas, where most migrant workers come from.Therefore,there exists a direct link between migrant workers and rural economic development,increase in farmers’ profit,and the overall economic and social condition.Poor migrant workers,although having caught more government and public attention,were approached in areas related to their status quo, a direct link between migrant workers and rural economic causes and solutions to poverty in the existing studies.It’s difficult to make breakthroughs in systematic research,in part because it’s not easy to set a poverty line for migrant workers.If we fail to draw a scientific and feasible poverty line,the progress of poverty alleviation for migrant workers will get obstructed,combined with the dramatically reduced effects of their social insurance system.As a result,it is of vital importance to study the measurement of poverty line.This icle,beginning with the introduction to poverty-related definitions,compares and analyses the fundamental principles,merits and demerits of several frequently used methods through combing the ways employed both at home and abroad to set poverty line.Based on the establishment and development of the Chinese ways to measure poverty line,this article,citing Shaanxi Province as an example,delves into the basic features and current situation of mifrant workers there by means of the empirical analysis method.Finally,based upon the explanation of factors that influence the measurement of poverty line for migrant workers,the article puts forward some ideas of how to set a migranr workers’poverty line in Shaanxi Province providing some useful materials for other scholars to draw or in their study of migrant workers in China.The five-chapter article includes:Chapter ne:Introduction.It states the research background and significance,combs the theoretical methods of measuring poverty line for migrant workers both at home and abroad and gives a brief introduction to the research contents,methods and samples of this article.Chapter two:Definition and summarization.It separately introduces and assesses several frequently employed international methods of setting poverty line.Chapter three:An analysis of the poor condition of the migrant workers in Shaanxi Province.It summaries the basic features and explains the wrethed situations of the migrant workers in Shaanxi Province through literature review and questionnaire aralysis.Chapter four:A research on how to measure the poverty line for migrant workers in Shaanxi Province.It suggests ways to set the poverty line for migrant workers based on the analysis of common and special factors that influence it.Chapter five:Conclusion.It concludes the opinions presented in the article,state briefly its advantages and shortcomings and proposes questions worth further study.
