It is obvious that the prosperity of the market is connected with numerous energetic corporations. The same is true that the prosperity of a company is connected with the energetic employees. With the industrial revolutions taking places several times, the social economic development is getting faster. The competition is also getting fierce, which results to the overwhelming pressure for the employees. Dealing with this pressure needs the cooperation between the firms and the employees. In fact, the human beings have limited capacity. Excessive pressure often leads to negative effects. It is common of the job burnout, which deprives the employees of their energy and power. As a result, the company is losing its power, too. Therefore, this dissertation selects commercial bank employees as the research object, trying to explore the Big Five personality and understand the relationship between social support and job burnout. It is expected to contribute to alleviate burnout by this research.After the literature reviews, this research prefers Big five personality, perceived social support, and the job burnout as the subjects in this dissertation. It regards commercial bank staff as the research object, by establishing a model of the relationship between the variables to put forward the assumptions, which can be revealed as follows.First, Big Five personality and job burnout are significantly related. Second, the Big Five personality and perceived social support are significantly related. Third, perceived social support and work burnout are significantly related. Fourth, perceived social support has an intermediary’s effect between the Big Five personality and job burnout.This research applies the empirical research method by collecting questionnaires to acquire the data. The questionnaire is consisted of basic personal information, Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), simple version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-GS) and the Big Five Personality Questionnaire (CBF-PI-B). The subjects of the questionnaires for employees are a number of commercial banks from the four provinces of Sichuan, Chongqing, Gansu, and Zhejiang. These employees were working in the Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, China Construction Bank, China Bank of Communications, CITIC Bank, China Merchants Bank, Lanzhou bank and Chouzhou Bank. All questionnaires are in paper version and passed through acquaintances in order to ensure the quality of the data, which is with the sincere expression of the purpose and significance of this research. And eventually this research has got widely support. Finally, the cumulative release of280questionnaires was collected234feedbacks. The recovery rate was83.57%. After excluding invalid questionnaires, the research has got203valid questionnaires.The main results are revealed as follows.First, Big Five Personality and job burnout are significantly related. Commercial bank employees’neuroticism is positively correlated with burnout. The neurotic score is higher; the employees are more likely to feel the burnout. Sense of responsibility with agreeableness and burnout are negative correlation, which means if the score of responsibility and agreeableness is higher, the employees are more difficult to experience burnout. Openness and job burnout was not significantly correlated.Second, Big Five personality is significantly associated with perceived social support. In the Big Five Personality of the employees, neuroticism and perceived social support are significantly negatively correlated. The score of neurotic is higher, the lower the perceived social support.Third, perceived social support and job burnout are significantly negatively correlated. Commercial Bank employees’perceived social support score is higher, their experience of burnout lower.Fourth, perceived social support has mediating effect exists between the Big Five personality and job burnout.As a result, the suggestion of this research can be explained to improve the management. First, the Big Five personality and perceived social support should be tested in the staff recruitment section. Second, analyze the job and identify the position which is prone to burnout. Third, help the staff to make a clear understanding of themselves by guidance and training. Fourth, take care of the quality of life of employees, and help them to deal with work-life balance.The contribution of this research is to select commercial bank staff on the basis of previous studies, for the purpose of helping employees to alleviate burnout.To begin with, this study tries to find the relationship between the Big Five Personality and perceived social support, In real life, different commercial banks employees are often in the same work environment to show a different level of job burnout. But the researches are different in their results.Besides, this research explores the relationship between perceived social support and job burnout. In some perceived social support and mental health research, the researchers found that perceived social support is an important factor for mental health. The perceived social support and mental health are related.At last, it is believed in this dissertation that the perceived social support is the mediating variables between the Big Five Personality and burnout.In addition, due to the limitation of time and knowledge, this research still has some inevitable inadequacies, which deserves further researches in the future.
