Empirical Study On Relationship Between Regional Industrial Environment And Management Performance Of Enterprises:Based On The Measurement Of Differences And Variabilities

Abstract:China has typically unbalanced economy with salient regional disparities. In order to reduce regional disparities and promote the harmonious development of regional economy and society, Chinese Government has implemented a series of regional development strategies including "Western Development","Revitalizing the Old Industrial Base in Northeast China" and "Rise of Central China" during the Eleventh Five-Year period. However, the unbalanced development of the regional economies has not changed radically. The study on regional differences of industrial environment and relationship and acting mechanisms between industrial environment and companies’ management performance is very important to develop characteristic industries based on characteristics of industrial environment and optimize industrial environment based on growing rules of companies.Based on the analysis of regional industry environment and influencing factors of regional enterprise’management performance, this paper divides all provinces into four economic regions and widely collects relevant data to study each region’s current situation on the following five aspects, like "factors of production","demand conditions","related and supporting industries","industrial structure" and "government action", taking31provinces (cities, regions) and their listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets as samples. Weights of regional industry environment’s components are worked out with entropy evaluation method to comprehensively assess the current situation of regional industry environment and regional enterprises’ management performance. Regional industry environments are divided into four types (powerful type, preponderant type, weak type and inferior type) and the regional enterprise performances are divided into three types (excellent, good and poor) with cluster analysis method.But only one or two components of regional industry environment can’t significantly affect regional enterprise performance. So only by improving all of the aspects of regional industry environment and building a good regional industry environment to create a better platform for the survival and development of companies, can we achieve improvement of regional enterprise performance. Thereby, according to the five components of regional industry environment, this paper puts forward some suggestions that can improve the performance of enterprise.
