Study On Construction Of High-speed Railway Station In Angle Of Tourists’ Sense Of Place

With the development of technology and economy, the country launched a high-speed rail travel boom. High-speed railway station area is a place as the first impression when tourists arrive and the last sight when leave, high-speed railway station area is one cannot be ignored in the journey.Currently,the city become more and more "placelessness" with the process of modernization and globalization., which weakened the tourist appeal of the city.Thus,it’s a meaningful point to research the city tourists’sense of place and find new potential places which play a role in the formation of tourists’sense of place.At the same time,it’s also a timely and appropriate research question which should be considered that high-speed railway station area,as a new part of city,how to become a space with local characteristics in current economic and social situation.Sense of place is an integrated emotion with a mixture of tourists’city impression and city experience,which has been proved to be the intrinsic factor affecting the destination choice of tourists.Sense of place stems from emotional interaction between tourists and destination,and local characteristics is the basis for tourists to have a unique and profound sense to place.On the other side,analyzing local elements on which tourists rely to form sense of place and putting it into the construction of high-speed railway station area in symbolic form is effective from the perspective of tourists’sense of place.The old places of the city echo the new,the function of the former is to maintain city’s authenticity,the latter is to coordinate with urban geographical position and context and also somewhat relative to the development and innovation.Building the relationship between two different disciplines concept,that is tourists sense of place and high-speed railway station area,is one of the difficulties in this paper.High-speed railway station is the necessary place where tourists’sense of place comes into being.Maybe,it will become an important point in the future.It is based on the analysis of actual cases.On the other hand,high-speed railway station cannot shrink from responsibility to inherit local culture because of its special location an irreplaceable function. Shirking cultural heritage and combining with local element symbols have become essential cultural construction contents for high-speed railway station as the representative of modernization.In this study,taking Changsha City as an example, the local symbols which tourists form sense of place relying on have got through interviews,and then questionnaire based on the result of interview has been design to invest the degree of tourists’sense of place and tourists’requirements for local symbols and function. Finally, we reached the following conclusions.Firstly, tourists form sense of place in Changsha relying on their city impression which is related to city promotion, existing emotional connection with city coming from tourists’past experiences, acquaintances and local celebrities, and city experience relating to the places or region where tourists visited. Secondly, tourists pay attention to the building, landscape or scene in high-speed railway station area during the journey,and these things have an important impact on their views of the city.Also,a high-speed railway station with local characteristics wil enhance the city image in tourists’mind and city tourism attraction. Thirdly, tourists support that local element symbols should appear in high-speed railway station area and think that high-speed railway station area should be a integrated service zone with the functions of dining,sightseeing, transfers, accommodation, banking services, shopping, exchange of information, entertainment and so on. Fourthly, construction of high-speed rail station area should be considering various needs and integrate tourism function and local symbols. The local symbolic reference could extend to large areas where the city being. At the same time,the results of this paper can be applied in air port. Fifthly, we can display local symbols in the way of text, entities and videos in the high-speed railway station. Combination of high-speed railway station, airport and authentic city areas is good for city tourism development. It also helps tourists to form sense of place and feel change between modernization and authenticity.
