Research On Urbanization Development In Wenzhou: From The Perspective Of Overall Urban-rural Development

As the important part of urbanization, town is regarded as one of the mostpowerful impetuses and symptoms. Nowadays, urbanization development status hasbeen an important index assessing a region’s comprehensive competitiveness. Nextten to twenty years will be golden era for China to accelerate urbanizationdevelopment, which will bring the fundamental revolution and stride of economicand social development. The process of urbanization is vital for the goal of basicallyachieving modernization.Due to remarkable Wenzhou Model evolving from the development of marketeconomy, Wenzhou was regarded as the birthplace and wane of China’s privateeconomy. However, Wenzhou’s underdevelopment of urbanization didn’t match thehighly developed economy well. In2012, the rate of urbanization in Wenzhou wasmerely67%, which highlighted lots of problems, such as inadequate urbanizationand semi-urbanization, scattered urban-rural pattern and its sharp contradiction, andirrational industrial development.In the background of Central government advancing overall urban-ruraldevelopment, Wenzhou put forward the adjustment of administrative division withthe keynote on revocation-expansion-merger and promotion of urbanization level,which preliminarily established a new way of developing urbanization andcosmopolitan network space structure, and therefore led the urbanization ofWenzhou into a new development space. Nowadays and in the years to come, forWenzhou who is in the critic stage of comprehensive transformation, coping withthese problems and challenges, driving the urbanization of Wenzhou to a new stageand tracking out a new development path, will be a significant issue.Studying on the urbanization development of Wenzhou from the perspective of overall urban-rural development, and based on the research of the typical domesticand overseas pattern of urbanization, this essay aims to summarize the experiencesand enlightenments of urbanization development, which will provide theoreticalreferences for urbanization development in Wenzhou. Besides, it summarizes theprocess and characteristics of urbanization development in Wenzhou, analyzes mainproblems, constraints and advantages existing in urbanization development inWenzhou, and then clarifies orientation of urbanization development in Wenzhou.By combining theory with practice, it puts forward to some recommendations forurbanization development in Wenzhou to further the scientific development ofurbanization in Wenzhou.This essay consists of seven chapters as follows:Chapter1, introduction. It introduces the research background from three levelsof China, Zhejiang and Wenzhou, and clarifies the aims and meanings of thisresearch. Then it introduces domestic and overseas research status on China’surbanization. Besides, the main research strategy, framework, methods and thepossible innovative points are included in this chapter.Chapter2clarifies the relating concepts and basic theories of urban-ruraldevelopment and urbanization development, especially the relating theories ofurban-rural development and urbanization development, the relationship betweenurban-rural development and urbanization, and so on.Chapter3mainly introduces the experiences and enlightenments of typicalurbanizations in domestic and oversea areas, analyzes the experiences of developedoversea cities like Tokyo, Melbourne, Paris and Seoul, and domestic areas like PearlRiver Delta, Shanghai, Chengdu and Dalian, aiming to get some inspirations for theurbanization development in Wenzhou.Chapter4gives details in the development status and advantages existingofWenzhou urbanization from the perspective of overall urban-rural development. Itconsists of four parts: the general information of Wenzhou area, the process ofurbanization development, its characteristics,and advantages existing. Chapter5mainly aims to analyze the main problems and constraints in theurbanization development of Wenzhou.Chapter6puts forwards recommendations for the development of Wenzhouurbanization from the perspective of overall urban-rural development. Therecommendations include some suggestions in scientific planning, layoutoptimization, urban-rural integration development, industrial upgrading, andimprovement of public service system.Chapter7, Conclusion. It draws brief conclusions, points out some deficienciesand makes forcasts.
