Study On Development Strategies Of Agricultural Trade Between Fujian And Taiwan In The Post-ECFA Era

The signing and implementation of ECFA is another major breakthrough of the cross-straiteconomic and trade relations after the basic realization of cross-strait "three links". As a firstsuccessful example of cross-strait economic and trade cooperation, the cooperation ofagricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan seizes the opportunity of the implementation ofECFA to innovate and improve the long-term and mutual beneficial cooperation mechanism aswell as to further release the sustainable development force, which plays an important role topromote the agricultural transformation and upgrading as well as push forward the integrationprocess of cross-strait agricultural trade, on the other hand, enhance the agriculturalcompetitiveness between Fujian and Taiwan.Based on the agricultural trade with more than30-year cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan,the study summarizes and analyses the achievements of the agricultural trade between Fujian andTaiwan and the preliminary results of ECFA implementation with the quantitative and qualitativeanalysis method; meanwhile, by using the methods such as SWOT and comparative analysis, thestudy is to find out the internal and external factors effecting the agricultural trade betweenFujian and Taiwan in the post-ECFA era with matching the correlative factors including thestrengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to further clarify the future developmentdirection and strategic combination of agricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan, so as topropose how to innovate and improve the agricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan. Thestudy suggests that the agricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan should be based on themutual benefit and win-win principle and really conducted in accordance with the rules ofbusiness cooperation under the ECFA framework with the market dominated and considerationof farmers’ economic interests, and the agricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan would bedeveloped by exercising the comparative advantages and conducting the trial promoting foragricultural trade as well as fully mobilizing farmers’ enthusiasm.This subject also realizes the innovation on research, which is not only to further tap thedevelopment potential of agricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan, but also to conduct thedeep analyses and rigorous measurement validation on the factors impacting and restricting theagricultural trade between Fujian and Taiwan which breaks the traditional research angles mostlyfocus on the macro-system coordination. And in view of achieving the value chain, this subjectprovides the workable countermeasures for the development of agricultural trade between Fujianand Taiwan as well as indicates the theoretical basis and thoughts for the sustainable economicpromoting and positive interaction on the economic and trade cooperation between Fujian andTaiwan.
