With the rapid development of the world economy, the environmental problems caused by the fossil energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions brought about by the global climate problem, has a strong impact on human survival and development, people are increasingly concerned about the concept of "low-carbon". As a new model of economic development, low-carbon economy has become the main direction of the future economic development, and many countries are seeking transformation to a low-carbon economy. Driven by reform and opening up, China’s economic has made great progress, and creates China’s "economic miracle", and then the carbon emissions is also too much, according to the data of the World Bank WDI database, China has surpassed the United States in2006, to become the largest carbon country of the world. However, our country is still in the stage of rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, economic growth is still the theme of a very long time in future. Along with the promotion of economic growth, industrialization and urbanization, China’s carbon emissions will still be great in future; no matter in domestic or abroad, we are facing severe pressure to reduce emissions. Therefore, in the above context, this article wants to study the variation of carbon emissions in the economic development, looking for possible influencing factors, and it has a very important theoretical and practical significance for the domestic development of low-carbon economy, looking for minimum cost of emission reduction. On the basis of drawing on the related research of scholars at domestic and abroad, first of all, this paper discusses the definitions, characteristics of the low-carbon economy and other related concepts, then gives economic theoretical foundation for low-carbon economy; Then, it makes a descriptive statistical analysis on China’s current economic development and carbon emissions situation, and makes a comparison with the major countries of the world; Next, using the econometric methods, it makes an empirical analysis on the changes in the relationship between the carbon emissions and economic growth in China; At the same time, based on the Vector Autoregressive (VAR)method, it wants to find the factors that may affect our carbon emissions; Finally, based on the statistical and econometric research, this paper thinks about the choice of the carbon emission reduction path in China, and tries to figure out the focus of controlling carbon emissions in China.
