Photography behavior of tourists is becoming more and more popular with the emergencyof the more and more active photography culture. Tourists’ photographing in the touristdestination has almost become an indispensable part of tourist activities. The photographybehavior which combines the tourism need, tourist motive, and tourist behavior is not only theaction of taking pictures, but also the embodiment of tourist gaze to the tourism destination. Atthe same time, it also reflects the tourists’ understanding of the landscape. With the advent of theera of micro, the effects on the development of tourism destination on account of the spread oftravel photos of tourism has to be reckoned with. Industrial heritage, a special kind of culturalheritage, attracts more attention in recent years. Tourists’ gaze behavior not only reflects thetourists’ motivation and the understanding of heritage, but also makes differences on themselvesand the industrial heritage sites.This paper reviews the researches on tourist gaze, travel photography and industrial heritage,and then analyzes the factors affecting the gaze behavior of tourists in industrial heritage sites.After that, this paper tries to set up the gaze behavior model of tourist in industrial heritage sites,basing on John Urry’s tourist gaze, the interpretation of the paradigm of gaze forces by LiuDanping, the transformation model of tourism experience by Li Yiping, and the five stagesmodel by Mathieson and Wall. After the analysis of the development of industrial heritagetourism in Shenyang, three typical industrial heritage sites, including the Museum of ChineseIndustry, Living Museum of Workers Village and the Zhongxing Culture Square, are picked to bethe objects of empirical research. This paper analyzes the gaze behavior before and in the processand after the travel and inquiry the forces to the destination using questionnaire survey, contentanalysis and interview method.By analyzing the gaze behavior of the tourists in industrial heritage sites, this paper drawsthe following conclusions: Firstly, tourists form the pre-understanding of industrial heratage sites,which may influence the whole process of tourist gaze, mainly by interpersonal communicationand media publicity. Secondly, relative to the scene, tourists in the industrial heritage sites preferto gaze on the landscape, and they would pay more attention to the interpretation of connotationof landscape. Thirdly, the gaze preference of tourists in industrial heritage sites are mostlyimpacted by the heritage value factors and the motivation factors of photography. Fourthly, thesatisfaction of tourists in industrial heritage sites is quite high, and they look forward to getting more participatory experience. Finally, tourists gaze behavior plays a promoting role in thedevelopment of industrial heritage sites. According to the conclusions mentioned above, thepaper puts forward five related suggestions to promote the development of industrial heritagesites, including broadening the channels of publicity and shaping the tourism image,strengthening iconic landscape symbol attribute to inspire tourist motives, highlighting theindustrial heritage cultural connotations to increase the readability of landscape, adding moreinteractive projects to improve the tourism experience, focusing on the tour commentary andincreasing community residents’ participation.
