Cellular production is one of the core modules of lead production, truly meeting the productiondemand of multiple varieties and small batch. The change of factors such as product variety,production batch and so on may make the existing cellular layout inefficient, so it needs improvethe existing cellular facility layout according to the changed situation to improve efficiency.Reconfigurable facility layout under cellular production is defined as under cellular productionmodel, putting the current facility layout as a reference object, considering the certain productiondata of the next cycle to reconfigure the original facility layout, and then achieve the optimal layoutto achieve maximum economic efficiency. Because the reasonability of facility layout directly affecteconomic efficiency of enterprises, the facility re-layout in a production process appears necessary.Firstly, this paper analyzed the facility layout problem under cellular production in thedynamic competitive environment, and then this problem was defined. Consideringcomprehensively the many quantitative and qualitative factors of the problem, a reference model forthe facility layout problem was established, including product mix, product routing, machine types,locations of these machines on the workshop floor. And then the connection and difference ofreconfigurable facility layout problem, dynamic facility layout problem and robust facility layoutproblem were described.Secondly, facility layout under U-shaped cellular production was selected as the modeledobject, and various factors of the reconfigurable facility layout problem were analyzedcomprehensively, and then multi-objective integrate model with budget constraints and other kindsof constraints was established, including material handling cost, cellular reconfigurable cost andproduction time loss cost.Then, in order to avoid falling into local optimum situation, pre-tests were carried out todetermine the parameters setting of genetic algorithm. This study applied genetic algorithm in theproposed model to solve the facility layout problem. Considering comprehensively business goalsand the factors influencing the layout to determine the setting of weight, the multi-objectiveoptimization problem was changed into a single objective optimization problem to study.Finally, the actual case was applied. A workshop U-shaped production line in a cell wasconsidered as the study object, and the features of the current cellular facility layout were analyzed.According the established facility layout mathematical model, the genetic algorithm was used tostudy and analyzed. This study also applied cost benefit analysis by management perspective forconsidering whether or not the planners rearrange the original layout, and the result of optimization was given to provide the decision-making support for a new round of production organization ofenterprises.
