As an ideal bulk material handling equipment, belt conveyor has been widely used in many fields. The dynamics analysis of belt conveyor has been more and more important. In the conveyor system, the most component is roller, accounting for more than 30% of the whole weight.Firstly, through the research of belt conveyor design and modeling method, this paper used Recur Dyn software as modeling and analysis software. This paper used the Belt toolkit to create a belt conveyor virtual prototype. Through software simulation, it studied the dynamic characteristics of belt conveyor in the starting process. The simulation value was compared with the theoretical value to verify the accuracy of the model. Then, this paper presented a method of conveyor parametric modeling based on Recur Dyn. It used parametric value and parametric point to create the belt conveyor model, so that the virtual machine models can change with the parameter value and updated automatically. Finally, this paper used Auto Design module to present a conveyor roller spacing optimization method based on the parametric models. And it chose the belt conveyor power and the belt fluctuations as the overall performance indexes. With the design targets of minimal belt conveyor power and minimal belt fluctuation, it achieved the optimal design of roller spacing, respectively. Then it studied the optimization results of the two analyses, to select the appropriate distance between rollers, and to realize the optimization of belt conveyor power consumption and the stable belt fluctuation.In the designing process of general conveyor belt, roller spacing is based on experience. The smaller the roller spacing is, the better the dynamic characteristic of belt conveyor will be. But, it will increase the number of roller, increase the conveyor installation cost, and reduce the economic system at the same time. So reasonable roller spacing can not only ensure stable and reasonable conveyor operation, but also can reduce energy consumption and improve the economy. For this, the paper firstly proposed a parametric modeling method and a roller spacing optimization method based on Recur Dyn.Through the simulation analysis, it is concluded that when the roller spacing of bearing roller is 1.3m, the belt conveyor power consumption is smallest, and the fluctuation is smallest. The optimization method of rolling spacing proposed in this paper provides a reliable basis for the design of large-scale conveyor roller arrangement. In the future study, the design parameters, the objective function and constraint conditions can be changed to achieve other optimization objectives.
