With the rapid development of China’s economy in recent years, the demand for energy is growing. Oil, as one of the main energy supplies, plays an important role in economic development. Pipeline transportation is becoming widely used in the transportation of crude oil for safety, short construction period, continuous operation and low cost. Because of the long distance and rough terrain, operational management and monitoring of the pipelines have a high degree of difficulty.SCADA systems can comprehensively monitor the running parameters of the long-distance pipelines, including real-time data collected in the field of pipelines, emergency warning processing and related device remote control. Staff can monitor various points throughout the pipeline system at the control center, not in the industrial field. Therefore, working efficiency has been improved and the safety of staff has been ensured.In this paper, through in-depth study of the pipeline SCADA system proposed design based on ARM processor pipeline monitoring system. This system is capable of real-time acquisition of important parameters of pipeline operation and downstream sub-transmission of the oil according the plan by controlling valve and pump. RTU as a key part of SCADA station control system, undertake remote data acquisition, communication, device control and other tasks. Firstly, in terms of hardware, RTU includes the following parts: analog input / output, digital input and output, Ethernet module, RS-232 / RS-485 interface, memory modules and power supply modules. RTU collects important pipeline running information by connecting different sensors and achieves a precise control of the flow by the valve and pump controls. Secondly, transplant embedded operating system as the software platform of the system, which mainly includes the establishment of the main development environment for embedded Linux, and Boot loader, Linux kernel and the root file system transplants. Meanwhile, make the plan of the sub-transmission. Through a mathematical model acquire the best start and end times and sub-transmission output to ensure that the system can sub-transmit oil downstream efficiently and stably. Finally, the functions of the modules in monitoring system were tested by experiments. Experimental results show that the pipeline monitoring system can work stably.
