Petrochemical industry is the pillar industry in China. In its production process, a variety of equipment are used, of which the structure is complex. The current management of petrochemical equipments, mostly rely on labor with great cost, low efficiency and high investment of human resources. Equipment information is provided for users in the form of paper, which is difficult to update, easy to lose and vulnerable to environmental corrosion. Petrochemical equipment is the basis for the petrochemical industry production. The quality of petrochemical equipment management is vital to the entire petrochemical enterprise management efficiency, thus establishing a petrochemical model base management system for unified management of petrochemical equipment and their archives is necessary. The system is beneficial to a rational allocation of manpower and money, reducing the various losses in the process, improving the quality and efficiency of the management.WebGL is a recently emerging 3D rendering technology using in web which is based on HTML5. It binds JavaScript and OpenGL ES 2.0 together, provides developers with a rich variety of JavaScript APIs, and enables HTML5 Canvas three-dimensional hardware accelerated rendering. The development of the technology of WebGL is based on web so that it can make Web pages load 3D models and scenes directly without having people specifically develop third party 3D rendering plug-in on web, which saves users from the trouble of downloading and installing plug-ins. In addition, WebGL can also be used to build webs having complex three-dimensional structure, making Web’s development enter a new chapter.Development of the Internet and WebGL supply three-dimensional modeling of petrochemical equipment a new method to solve all sorts of malpractices which are common in traditional petrochemical equipment management, promote the creation and development of the information-supporting environment of petrochemical company, and improve the automation level and information level of the petrochemical industry. Therefore, we decide to conduct the development of this Petrochemical three-dimensional model base management system based on WebGL.Adopting B/S structure, using ASP.NET and WebGL technology, the management system contributes to associated storage and management of petrochemical 3D models and their attributes with MySQL database. The professional models and attributes can be highly integrated so that visual expression is achieved. The very system makes it easy to undertake classified storage, management and update. Users in different regions can operate the models together with the system. Petrochemical three-dimensional model base management system based on WebGL is a good performance which indicates that information technology can serve Petrochemical enterprise production and management better than ever.Modules that the system implements are as follows:(1) Management of users and role permissions Different users in the system are bound by different roles, and different roles have different permissions of system functions, which ensure the security of data.(2) Management of petrochemical 3D model and their archives The system supports dynamically uploading, downloading, viewing and deleting of the petrochemical 3D model and their archives.(3) Category management and model retrieval of petrochemical equipmentsUsers can add, modify, delete, move equipment category dynamically according to petrochemical equipment category standards, and retrieve models by keywords.
