As one of the well-known smokeless industries, tourism industry has become an economic growth and public well-being related strategically emerging industries; significantly,low-carbon tourism is the key transforming node for the development of low-carbon. However,lots of problems need to be faced in order to implement low-carbon tourism.Research has shown that the key of achieving low-carbon tourism is estimating car bon emission. Due to the fact that the current circumstances of tourism policies and the lev el of development are different between China and other developed countries, combined wi th the lack of tourism statistics and data, tourism industry estimation of carbon emissions h as formidable difficulties, which means you cannot copy the foreign measuring framework and calculation methods The calculation theories and methods of tourism industry’s carbon emissions are waiting for innovation as soon as possible.This paper talks about the establishment and usage of necessary calculation theory and methods based on typical resorts,the area of Hainan Yanoda Cultural Tourism and Nanshan Cultural Tourism. For instance, a clear direction for the efforts of energy saving and low carbon development resort and key is identified by revealing the two types of carbon resort structure and characteristics according to the scenic composition and operation process of field research, combining with analysis of the survey data, collection and analysis of carbon emissions scenic scientific measurement.The carbon sources have divided into three categories:service-oriented resort, management and protection type and construction type according to scenic features and related research both in China and aboard. Service-oriented resort offers visitors a carbon source that refers six aspects, resort catering, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping and entertainment, and the formation of carbon emissions based on relative facilities; resort-type carbon source is the forming combination of carbon emissions of resort management and protection daily management, operation and maintenance and associated staffs; scenic construction type is the carbon emissions of all programs, such as, renovation, expansion and other in-process projects.Calculation shows that the total amount of carbon emission for the area of Hainan Yanoda Cultural is 2483.76t and the emission unit per guest is 1.77t, the area of Nanshan Cultural Tourism’s carbon emission is 5034.39t and the emission unit per guest is 1.31t. According to estimation and results of comparative analysis, scenic characteristics, tourist scales, types of energy, energy intensity, low-carbon technologies, and stages of development are the main factors affecting the scenic carbon emissions.Therefore, countermeasure and recommendation of carbon emissions are formulated in order to facilitate the restructuring and development of Hainan scenic regions.
