CA6140 horizontal lathe adopts the traditional relay to realize the electric appliance control. This kind of horizontal lathe is poor in automation, and it is difficult to meet the needs of modern production. Machine tool NC retrofitting if a reform on ordinary, old machine tools with mature NC theory and successful experience at low cost, which may restore and even raise the preciseness of the original machine tool. Machine tool NC retrofitting as a new, economic, growing industry has developed a lot at home and abroad, fitting in with the needs of rapid development of the industry. In this paper, CA6140 lathe is studied, the numerical control transformation of the lathe is carried out.The main research contents are as follows: Analysis of the original drive and feed system of the lathe, Improvement and design of the drive and feed system accuracy requirements for the CA6140 lathe. This paper focus on the transformation of the CA6140 lathe, using PLC and touch screen to achieve control of the lathe, Including: PLC type selection(the lathe numerical control transformation selection MITSUBISHI FX2 N PLC Series). In order to achieve the common procedures, back to the origin of the program, the main control procedures, axis control, time control, the control of the alarm, automatic tool change control, cooling process, these eight parts after the transformation of the machine, implement modular program is written and the ladder diagram is drawn. The type selection of the touch screen(the type of the lathe numerical control transformation and selection of the touch screen is: GT1155-QSBD-C), touch screen interface design, a total of 5 images were designed,(1) touch screen boot screen,(2) touch screen monitoring system selection screen,(3) touch screen of the spindle motor monitor screen,(4) touch screen cooling pump motor monitor screen,(5) touch screen of fast motor monitor screen. Draw the ladder diagram of the PLC and touch screen online implementation of spindle motor positive inversion starting control, spindle motor Y / △ start control, spindle positive reversal braking control, spindle motor dynamic control, cooling pump motor control, fast motor dynamic control, HL lighting control and PLC and touch screen control program. And at last, The main function of the CNC lathe can be realized by using the PLC and touch screen control simulation experiments to verify the CA6140 lathe numerical control transformation.This research provides an effective method for the technical personnel of the processing industry to realize the traditional CA6140 type lathe numerical control transformation, and also has the reference value for the technical transformation of other traditional processing equipment.
