Sizing is the key process for improving loom efficiency, fabric quality and reducing production cost,and yarn sizing is done on the sizing machine. Sizing machine’s important component is size box which ensures the sizing quality. In recent years, the intestine research on size box mainly concentrates in sizing method and sizing technology. It is little research that is the structure of size box. This paper makes the safety analysis of slurry tank and optimization design of its key structure to improve sizing quality, safety performance of size box, operating convenience. The main contents are as follow: The fault tree analysis of mechanical safety evaluation is applied to analyze high-temperature slurry burn accident which is likely to occur in slurry tank, acquiring the accident’s risk and preventive measures. Size box structure designed for optimization according to evaluation results shortens the outline dimension and effectively avoids high-temperature slurry burn accident, and the performance test shows that the new size box can meet commendably requirement of sizing technology. The fixed structure of overflow plate is designed by analyzing deficiencies that activity structure of overflow plate is used in size box.The structure is made of overflow structure and discharging slurry sector. The paper analyzes theoretically the sizing roller structure’s impact on the lateral evenness of yarn sizing rate. The deficiency about general structure of sizing roller of keeping sizing rate uniformity is obtained with Static analysis of Ansys software. The pros and cons about crowd sizing roll, cross contact sizing roller, mid-fastened sizing roller on the slurry bank application are analyzed.Finally, this paper designs the linear pressure system, key size design and simulation verification, sizing roller bearing configuration of mid-fastened sizing roller. This research improves the overall performance of slurry tank.
