With the development of China’s economy in rapid increases in the same time,urbanization are accelerating the emergence of urban land more intense human paradox.With the number of urban population increases every year, gradually reduce the amountof land, residential increasingly higher prices, people are living in cities there is aproblem. Faced with this situation, the state has adopted the policy response proposedhousing security system. In order to further improve and enhance people’s real livingenvironment, solve the housing problem, in the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the country inorder to better standardize and improve housing security system, the further expansionof its coverage.Affordable housing in the country has invested a lot of money, after more than tenyears of construction and development, although achieved some success, but stillprotect the object because the coverage of small and narrow. In order to improvehousing security system, security of housing in the country has added a new form ofhousing, known as public rental housing. Currently in China is still in its constructionstarted early, the need to improve the system at the same time, reasonable and healthydevelopment.Residential units in the division of the people living space, but also to meet theirhousing needs, a good apartment homes designed to add a sense of belonginghouseholds, to achieve its own value, has a very important practical significance.However, due to the policy provisions, limited investment funds for construction ofpublic rental housing units in the design space standards than ordinary commodity housing is low, belongs to a small family homes.In the current economic conditions, low-income people as possible to provide agood living environment, public rental housing in the type design should fullyunderstand the analysis of family structure constituted resident populations, livinghabits and other related aspects, to seeking design that can meet their housing needs ofhigh-quality apartment.In this paper, in Shanghai for the study of public rental housing, public rentalproject in Shanghai existing instances of the units are classified summarize and put intouse in the project have been carried out investigations, analyze and summarize thefindings and to explore the future Shanghai Public direction of development of rentalhousing units.
