With the rapid development of national economy and further promotion ofurbanization construction, the number of gas users and needs of city civil gas increasesdramatically, which increased workload of the gas meter reading and billing.Theexisting manual meter reading and IC card prepaid meter reading have been far frommeeting the needs of convenient settlement of natural gas.Therefore, there have beenmany remote meter reading systems for different applications, to a certain extent, whichsolved the original meter reading with labor-intensive, difficult charging and otherissues. However, the current remote meter reading systems with many kinds of types,the product versatility is poor; moreover some technical defects exist. So in practicalapplications, the operation effect of systems is not ideal.For the existing problems of current remote meter reading systems, combined withthe research results acquired in previous topics, the network of gas metering andcharging system are studied deeply, and a wireless remote meter reading system basedon GPRS/GSM technology has been designed in this paper.The system is mainlycomposed of three parts, including wireless intelligent gas meter terminals,communication network and remote control center. Among them, the wireless smart gasmeter terminal realizesintelligent design, using micro-power microcontrollerC8051F912and Huawei wireless communication module MG323, to completereal-time acquisition of gas data, metering, remote transmission, terminal controllingand so on.Communications network adopts GPRS/GSM mobile communicationnetwork, which is the channel of information interaction between gas meterterminal,control center and mobile phone users.The management software of remotecontrol center is designed based on B/S architecture, with the function of remote meterreading and billing management, data statistics and analysis, real-time monitoring andso on.In this meter reading system, meter reading module is been creatively integratedinto the gas meter terminal directly, simultaneously the prepaid management mode isadopted, with data transmission scheme based on GPRS/GSM network technology.Ultimately, a networked and prepaid remote meter mode has beenrealized. Experimentalresults indicate that the system is stable and reliable, with accurate, fast, convenient metering and charging. It has realized wireless remote metering and billing management,alarming and automatically closing the valve when gas leaking, SMS remindingrecharge when flow deficiency and other functions.Meanwhile, the system also hassome typical features, such as simple structure, low cost, wide application, energysaving and environmental protection. So theyare upgraded products of gas meter market,with good market valueand application prospect.Firstly, the domesticandinternational present situation of remote meter readingsystems was introduced in this paper, and the adopting technical schemes and mainissues of current meter reading system was analyzed.Then the functional requirementsof meter reading system was analyzed, and on this basis, the overall design scheme ofmeter reading system was proposed.Focus on the hardware design and software designof wireless intelligent gas meter terminal, the design ideas and working principle of allfunctional units were analyzed comprehensively in this thesis. Subsequently, thesoftware of control center was introduced in this paper, the software and hardware testplatform of meter reading system were built, and the overall performance test of meterreading system completed.Finally, it made a summary of the work done of this paper,and it pointed out the farther study and outlook of system.
