In our country, in many industry cases, especially for some distributed and no watcher places, we need to read meter at fixed time. Traditional meter reading way consumes vast amounts of manpower and martial or needs and the accuracy of collected data is influenced by the human factors. The result is that the accuracy of collected data is very low and it is not conducive to electricity data management and statistical analysis. Therefore, the remote meter reading system has an important significance in the industry control field. The remote meter reading terminal is an integral part of the remote meter reading system which plays an important role in it. So a GPRS-based remote meter reading terminal is proposed in this thesis.The design and implementation of a GPRS-based remote meter reading terminal is introduced in this thesis. The software is designed by using C language and modular programming methods. The software design mainly includes system initialization module, clock module programming, the display module programming, meter reading module programming and data wireless transmission module programming. The hardware design is mainly the schematic design of related hardware, including the GPRS module, the single chip microcomputer module, the clock module and the display module. The remote meter reading terminal reads meter following DL/T645communication protocol and regularly shows the read energy data and the corresponding time information. The read data and time information are transmitted to the remote management computers through the GPRS module.Firstly, the background of the topic and relevant technology are introduced in this thesis. Then, the functionality and performance analysis of the remote meter reading terminal are conducted and the overall structure of the remote meter reading system is described. Then, a detailed introduction of the design of the main component modules of the remote meter reading terminal is carried out from two key aspects of hardware and software. The system test process is conducted. Finally, the conclusion of the work done and the outlook for further study are given.
