With the rapid development of modern computer technology, geographic information technology has begun to be widely used.The flight procedure designer can directly get the information of obstacles around the airport,which provides a very big help to our flight procedure design. Nowadays,flight procedure design usually based on computer aided software design,according to the International Civil Aviation Organization "visual and instrument flight procedure design specification". Compared to the past manual drawing, the has been greatly improved in efficiency, but because of the complexity of the program itself and some other things, flight procedure design works still exist many problems.This thesis studied on the automatic determine of missed approach segment.This thesis,firstly, according to the DOC8168specification, combine traditional missed approach procedure designing steps,studid the straight and the turn segment of the missed approach procedure.The key points about the missed approach procedure are to determine the missed approach point,the start of climb and turning point. Secondly,analyzed the common route planning algorithm,construct the models about the missed approach procedure’s key points selection and track moving.And design the algorithm about the selection of procedure’s key points and flight route.Then combined with the secondary development of the ArcGIS Engine,using spatial data processing,spatial analysis and edit components do the search and analysis geographic data.Then complete the functions, such as the procedure route, flying reserve, wind line protection area and turning reserve part drawing functions. And finally using southern Yunnan airport as an example, we can run the operation program and draw the missed approach procedure’s optimal route and flying reserve of the airport.The optimal route selection algorithm and the fix selection algorithm provide us a theoretical basis for the follow-up study of the of automatic generation work for flight procedure design, but still need to be improved in actual use.
