The so-called integrated substation automation is generally refers to: the use ofadvanced communication technology, DSP technology, computer technology,electronic technology, automation of substation in operation of operating equipment,an important power transmission line. Mainly include: control, monitoring,scheduling, protection, measurement. Due to power demand increases greatly, thetraditional substation forms has to meet the demand for capacity of power grid cannow power system. The integrated substation automation because of its high degreeof automation, the accident treatment response capability, allowing access toequipment capacity and faster promotion. In the substation automation system,ensure the stable operation of power grids, the decisive factor is the integratedautomation system protection, it can detect the fault signal and the accurate fault, toavoid accident scope and influence power supply reliability.500kV substation due tothe high voltage, transformer capacity, line and the complex structure, reliable actionof the protection is becoming more and more important.500kV substation protection system in accordance with the different ways canbe divided into different types. In view of protected objects, can be divided intotransmission and distribution line protection and main equipment protection(transformer, bus, capacitors, etc.). Aiming at the protection function, can be dividedinto short circuit protection or non-electricity protection. Short circuit protection isthe main protection, backup protection, assistance and protection etc.. Non electricalabnormal protection mainly has overload protection, loss of excitation protection,frequency more protection and non-protection phase running. According to the signalto divide, can is divided into analog and digital relay protection.
