The study of the unconscious design began in the17th century, and theresearch of example verification about the unconscious design started at the endof the19th century. At the end of20th century,as the unconscious thoughttheory research grew obviously, the conclusion that the unconscious thoughttruly exists was also universally implemented. The fact that there is differencebetween conscious and unconscious thought was also widely admitted andproved. Along with technological innovation, there have been manyachievements in the field of unconscious design research, which develops indepth continually. Unconscious design began to rise in the area of art design.Designers represented by Naoto Fukasawa first put forward the unconsciousdesign, who made a series of excellent design with their careful and meticulousdesign thinking especially in the design of daily necessities, which highlight theadvantages of the unconscious design.Unconscious design is based on mental demands, life experience andbehaviors, overall considering the relationship between “human-environment-object” and do the effective design. The purpose of design is to arouse users’wonderful memories and life experience based on satisfying human’s physicaland mental needs. And at the same time reduce the burden adapting according topeople’s behaviors. Except for making unconscious design centred on the users, this article also classified the unconscious creation process into the unconsciousdesign research category. Based on the analysis of unconscious thinking andunconscious design, I put forward the coupling concept in the unconsciousdesign.Coupling concept established between things, or a invisible relationshipbetween things and people. The understanding of the mechanisms of couplingconcept can help designers to design better.Coupling concept is a continuationof the unconscious design, which helps to have a profound understanding of theunconscious. At present, the unconscious design is only applied in the daily life necessities, but has not been involved in a public facilities. As the governmentstrongly advocating green travel policy, bus trip has become a popular choice. So applying unconscious design into the public transport facilities will maximizethe concern and respect for people,so that the public transport could be able torich public life, and also improve the service function of existing urban traffic. Methods of applying the unconscious design to public transport facilitiesmainly include the method of observation and psychological evaluation. First ofall, the observation method is used to collect basic information, which couldplay an key role in this research. Observe and record the passenger’s unconsciousbehaviors by planning and intending in the bus stop on a natural scene, and thenhave a psychological evaluation for observation, digging out the demandinformation behind the behavior.Second, using the psychological evaluationmethod to verify and supplement the information of the observation. Due to thelimitations of observational method,it cannot guarantee that the informationhave summed up all the demand points of the passengers. So I usedpsychological evaluation to verify and supplement the demand of publictransport facilities design, and finally get the design demand of public transportfacilities. I combined unconscious theory research and public transport demandand put forward public transport design suggestionsFirst, the analysis have made a further research on unconscious design andalso put forward theoretical innovation. Secondly, it provides the passengers’demand from the perspective of the unconscious, making the public transportmore humanized. Finally, it gets the design principle and grasped scales to publictransportation.
