To build strong, safe and stable operation of power grids, power put forward higher requirements of quality and service level.In or der to meet the needs of economic and social development in the future, the power supply to ensure the safety, economic, efficient,sustainable, State Grid C orporation of China put forward the construction of the ultra-high voltage gri d as the backbone network, Strong power grid based on the coordinated develo pment of power at all levels, The use of communication, information and adv anced control technology, build with information technology, automation, intera ctive and unified strong smart grid for the characteristics of the strategic devel opment goals. The distribution automation construction as the key construction of smart grid.This paper studies the current domestic and international distribution auto mation construction, analyzed all kinds of system management functionand the advantages and disadvantages, and the existing problems in theoperation proce ss of Tangshan, combined with the power distribution automation implementatio n, absorbing the experience summary and improvement, the power distribution a utomation construction principles,norms for construction automation master statio n, sub station, automation terminal, communication system, information security and other aspects of the distribution automation, improve the construction qualit y and economy.Details of the construction of Tangshan distribution automation a pplication,compared the advantages and disadvantages of distribution automatio nsystem and the selection basis, comprehensively expounded the distribution aut omation system, function of master station application, network structure,commun ication network construction, system information interaction andinformation secu rity construction. Based on the structural characteristics ofdistribution network in Tangshan area and the situation of the user, the implementation of the three kinds of automation construction of feederimplementation plan, divided into "ce ntralized" feeder automation,"voltage time type" feeder automation and user sid e feeder automation. At the same time, the typical implementation scheme of fee der automation are described in detail. In the process of Tangshan distribution automation construction,the application and research of relay protection in distri bution automation system, the relay protection of domestic and foreign experien ce in the investigation, the use of distribution network, the distribution networ k relay protection scheme of the characteristics of the region, the relay protectio nin distribution network fault override trip problem, improve the distribution net work operation reliability and economy.
