In recent years, with the rapid development of Xinjiang power grid, the grid structurechanged significantly, the power grid system’s operation methods has been sophisticatedincreasingly, in order to make a quick and effective recovery after a power failure, relayprotection and fault information system plays an important role. This paper based on the gridrelay protection and fault information system construction in Xinjiang, and combined with thepower grid construction and operation in Xinjiang, put forward the overall framework ofsystem design, function positioning and the main features by the related theories, thenanalyzes the structure and functions of the main station, sub-station, as well as the choice ofmeans of communication. By use of the hierarchical module design,this paper make anoverall planning of the software architecture of the system, describes the design andarchitecture of the hardware and software.This paper focus on the research of the fault information’s smart analysis sub-module inmain station system, make a detailed design to the automatical archiving and the smartanalysis of the important fault information in sub-module, give a fault information smartanalysis method based on expert system, which can make a neatly original fault reportautomatically of recorded wave players produces of action event recorded wave file and faultvolume with the tripping once equipment related following electric protection after the faultof power grid, while make an smart analysis to the original report automatically, then comewith a straightforward concluding report.In the end, this paper analyse the application of relayprotection and fault information system in Xinjiang power grid, practice proves that thesystem facilitates Professionals know the failure reason quickly after the power grid accident,reduce the power outage time, improve the efficiency of power grid’s normal running andproduce good economic and social benefits.
