With the gradual increase of wind turbine installed capacity in China, most of the wind turbine are placed in remote areas and run in harsh climate conditions. In the case of unattended and remote monitoring conditions,it is significant to study on the control technology to ensure the high reliability of the wind turbine. Furthermore,it often need a closed loop test to validate the control algorithm and demonstrate the control effect during the development process of a wind turbine controller. However, the traditional way of closed loop test has the disadvantage of high cost, high risk and the poor repeatability. Therefore, a real time semi-physical simulation system of wind turbine is builted in this thesis.It provides an open and convenient simulation platform for testing the wind turbine control algorithm with a closed loop in the laboratory. In this thesis,following works have been conducted.(1) Base on the research of real-time simulation and model based design methods, the LabVIEW model based design methods and steps has been proposed according to the simulation system software and hardware configuration.it can optimize the system development process and shorten the development cycle of the system.(2) A comprehensive analysis of the wind turbine and its basic principle has been taken in this thesis. Using classical mathematical model and mature control strategy, the wind turbine model and the second mass equivalent model of drive chain and the control algorithm model have been builded in LabVIEW. The generator model and the converter model and the grid model have been builed in the StarSim which is a new electric power simulation software based on state space equation structures. Furthermore, the LabVIEW and StarSim combined-simulation has been implemented in a real-time simulation system.(3)The overall design and planning of wind turbine real-time simulation system has been proposed. The hardware architecture of simulation system has been designed with the hardware modules configuration and channels distribution and circuits connection. In addition,the software architecture of simulation system has been developed with the monitor interface and software architecture and using variety communication mode to exchange the real-time model data.Moreover,a simulation experiment has been carried out with1.5MW doubly-fed wind trubine as example.The results show that the real time simulation system can realize the process of the wind turbine from start state to grid connected state.
