The current elderly population has reached200million in our country, accounting for14.9%of the total population. With an average annual growth rate of over800million, agingsociety has brought serious challenges. The rise and development of mobile health providesnew ideas for the management of elderly’s health, which has the advantages of convenience, efficiency and low cost. It is also in line with the trend of information technology in today’ssociety. The development of mobile health services in China is still infancy, current researchare focus on the technical architecture of system. There is few design study about the mobilehealth for the elderly. Therefore, it is of great significance by studying the physiological andpsychological characteristics of older users to guide the design of mobile health care platform.Through preliminary survey and literature review, study the current domestic andinternational mobile health development status, including development mode and features.Analyze four modes of the current mobile health for elderly. Summarize experience value andinadequacies of the development. Put forward elderly-centered design method, includingdesign process and related user research approaches, and advocate that pre-elderly group alsoneeds designer’s care and attention. Study physical characteristics and psychological needs ofthe elderly from the perspective of cognitive psychology and geriatric psychology, and putforward design strategy. By qualitative and quantitative research methods such as userinterviews, chat group observation and questionnaire, analyze the commonness andcharacteristics of older user group. Establish personas and user stories. Design the mobilehealth care platform for the elderly with the guidance of user research results, includinginteraction design and visual design both for mobile app and desktop website, and verifyfeasibility and effectiveness of the theory in practice. This paper aims to fill in the blank of mobile health products for the elderly, and providetheoretical guidance for this kind of design. Meanwhile, encourage designers to concern aboutthe elderly and other vulnerable groups, to narrow the digital gap and guide the societytowards public democratization direction by design.
