With the expansion of the universities, the number of college increases every year, resulting in total water consumption increased year by year, universities has become one of the biggest water sector in china. The development of our country’s urban water conservation was restricted by level of the college water-saving.The article describes the water overview of four typical institutions:Shan xi University、Taiyuan University of Technology、North University and Business College of Shan xi University. By the form of a questionnaire survey and collected the water data, the composition and characteristics of water to Taiyuan universities is analyzed and found that Taiyuan city college is widespread that exceed the phenomenon of water; Students have certain water-saving awareness, but there is still no form a comprehensive water saving habit; Most of the students think that the improve of campus water-saving efficiency should be came true by improving the water management system water saving technology and students’ consciousness of water saving.According to the problems of universities water-wasting in the city of Taiyuan, this paper has carried on the water-saving measures and water saving potential from three aspects:the popularity of water-saving appliances、the improvement of the construction of the water saving and water saving system. College in Taiyuan should widespread popularization of water-saving faucet、the use of toilets and showers, its water saving efficiency can reach up to40%; In the planning of new campus and the modification of old campus, the college should take a full consideration of the establishment of water reuse system and rainwater utilization system. North university year’s water-use efficiency is1.0614million Yuan. A set of perfect water management plan should be formulated out, the plan should be feasible、scientific nature、rationality and validity.In order to give a basis for reasonable Can accumulate rainfall,carried out outdoor field simulation experiment of runoff coefficient.The experiment selected three kinds of underlying surface:the asphalt pavement、cement pavement and drainage pavement, studied the relationship between runoff coefficient and three variables:rainfall intensity (four levels)、 the ground slope (three level) and rainfall duration. The results show that the cement road surface and the asphalt pavement change law is the same, runoff coefficients increases with the increases of rainfall intensity、rainfall duration and the ground slope; when the rainfall intensity is lower, Pavement permeability runoff coefficient are negative correlated with the ground slope, when the rainfall intensity is larger, the runoff coefficient are positively correlated with the ground slope. Based on different underlying surface on campus rain water quality determination found that the underlying surface PH is gradually increasing with the increase of rainfall runoff, between6.5-7.5; Turbidity decline with the passage of time, after about60min of the rain, roofing rainwater runoff stabilized at about15degrees, pavement rainwater runoff stabilized at about35degrees; Rainwater’s ammonium nitrogen content is low, and decreases with the increase of rainfall, the range is small; The early rain runoff concentration of COD、SS is larger, with the increase of rainfall, its content gradually reduce, after rainfall60min, the road rainwater runoff stabilized at about200mg/L roofing rainwater runoff stability near20mg/L.Through the study of the water quality of runoff and the change law of runoff coefficient can make use of engineering for the rain to determine how much rainfall can be accumulated、 determine the size of the reservoir, the reasonable choice of rainwater treatment technology and the promotion to lay theoretical basis for rainwater harvesting project, so as to accelerate the process of China’s water-saving construction in universities.Through the study and construction of water conservation in Taiyuan colleges, universities can not only reduce the total water consumption, lower operating cost, but also to develop students’ awareness of water conservation, form good water conservation habits, and establish water-saving society fashion conscious, so promote the city and enhance the people’s awareness of water conservation, so that universities gradually expanded to water-saving cities, the development of water-saving society to achieve efficient utilization and rational allocation of water resources, which for our country and building a conservation-oriented society, it have great significance on the purpose to achieve reasonably sustainable development of water resources.
