Vernacular architecture is an ancient building with the development of humansociety and the inheritance and development of it, is the product of the specificnational and specific local cultural interaction. It is a special form of construction, is akind of real material, but also represents a series of related culture, is the product ofthe local residents, the user to design and build, is closely connected with the localnatural resources, local customs and practices, cultural life mode of production,activity. Vernacular architecture research has made many achievements, but in factthere is not enough compared, especially residential research minority is waiting to beexplored. People’s understanding of the cultural value is also in need of thinking, howto make these vernacular architecture in the city of today continue to maintain vitality,but not destroyed. Today, how to achieve a balance in the tourism development ofvernacular architecture and protection, we should think about the problem.Tujia nationality is one of ancient ethnic groups in China, has a long history,population is numerous, widely distributed. Near the southwest of Hubei provinceand Enshi Autonomous Prefecture is one of the representative of Tujia residentialmost concentrated, most of the region. In view of this, the author chose the vernaculararchitecture Tujia study on this subject was studied deeply, in Xuanen, West Hubei,hoping to know something about Tujia people’s construction and cultural cause,trying to make a systematic and comprehensive understanding and summary of Tujiavernacular dwellings, especially a very local characteristics and ethnic characteristics"Diaojiao Lou" architecture form and the basic characteristic, the typical Tujiaresidential architecture culture and cultural character, in order to create a new Tujianationality and ethnic modernization creation to the enlightenment and reference inthe new era.
