The technology of Model Based Definition (MBD) has been fully used in thenewly developed civil aircrafts by advanced aviation manufacturing enterprises inforeign countries. Engineering departments have no longer given engineeringdrawings, but used integrated3D solid model to express the full product definitioninformation, thus three-dimensional model has been become into the sole basisduring manufacturing process, which helps reduce coordination costs, improvemanufacturing quality, realize comprehensive concurrent design and manufacturing,and shorten the development cycle, but also this technology has brought hugeimpact on current traditional craft design patterns which use the two-dimensionaldrawings as information carrier. In this case, the downstream process designdepartments how to adapt and respond to these changes, by what processmodifications, management method changes and system tools upgrades in order toadapt the work environment and patterns changes brought by application of MBDfor process planning.In this paper, aircraft manufacturing assembly process documents design andplanning were focused on as research objects, and studies of aircraft digital designpatterns, processes, methods based on model definition have been conducted. Themain work is as follows:(1) A process information modeling method for manufacturing is stated, whichis adding process information in MBD model and creating process derivative modelsto realize integrated modeling of process information.(2) Establish a MBOM build method which link the EBOM components to AO(Assembly Outline) components or process components, implemented MBOMbuilding and managing fast and effectively.(3) Construct an information structure which combine characters, figures andanimation as a three-dimensional AO (Assembly Outline), form a process-orientedinformation representation approach for assembly sites.(4) Finally, based on product data management system, build a digital processdesign environment to verify the rationality and feasibility of MBOM reconstructionand management, assembly process design and management, assembly processsimulation, engineering changes and other technologies. Realized aircraft assembly process design and planning based on model definition, improved the efficiency andaccuracy of the technical preparation, and laid the foundation for the full realizationof large passenger aircraft C919digital manufacturing.
