This paper mainly describes the research and use of a new test benchsystem of turbochargers. The test bench is mainly composed of hydraulicand pneumatic systems, PLC electrical control system, SRD device, PC, I/Ocommunication interfaces, electrical components and various types ofsensors.Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as the executing agency, inaccordance with the design requirements of the system, controls a variety ofcontrol elements such as pinch valves, proportional control valves, valves,check valves and so on. PLC electrical control system indicates and controlsthe actions of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Data such as pressure,temperature, flow and speed are measured by relative sensors, acquired byPLC and then uploaded into PC via OPC server. While other data such asvibration and noise are measured by relative sensors, acquired by SRD device and then uploaded to PC through Ethernet communication. All data inthe host computer are displayed in curves and then analyzed and stored.Reports of the tests are generated and stored in PC disk. The research workin this paper includes:(1) On the base of design requirements and test parameters of thesystem, the blueprint of Turbocharger hydropneumatic system was designedand the overall design scheme of the test system was put forward. Thus thetest and control of the turbocharger and air compressor was realized.(2) On the acknowledgement of the control demands of all components,the design method of the software as to data acquisition and analysis wasgiven in the order of the test procedure. Then, the designs and functions ofall sub VIs were presented combined with various interfaces.(3)Through the tests of standard samples, the accuracy and repeatabilityof the new test system has been verified.The turbocharger test bench system has a high reference value forevaluating the performance of turbochargers. To make the correct evaluationconclusions about the turbochargers according to the test results is critical tohelping the company to improve the outgoing quality of turbochargers.
