Thesis analysed the policies which to promote the development of green building inchina since1992, and the status of green building’s practice within southernsubtropical climate zone in china. The conclusion is, the evaluation standard andregulations for green building are completed, but lack of design guide for buildingperformance adapt to the southern subtropical climate conditions. Green building’spractice and development is blocked by obstacles and errors, such as buildingperformance does not adapt to the climate conditions, wrong energy use patterns, design thinking is not “green” enough, green building techniques are used in wrongway, and less efficiency.Passive design strategies of indemnificatory housing are the main objects of thethesis. The main purpose of the study which focus on regional architecture designmethods and technologies, is to solve the existing problems of green buildingpractices in the climate zone. Three specific purpose and contents are summarized asfollows. (1) Advocate the design pattern which make architectural designs based on climateanalysis conclusion, to achieve the target what makes architectural designs adapt tothe climate condition of southern subtropical climate zone in china.Based on climate database, analysed10selected cities with Weather Tool software. The conclusions are summarized as follows. Summarize the common passivearchitectural design strategies from the results. And for the heating demand in thecoldest time of southern subtropical climate zone in china will be reconclusioned. Forapplicability of some passive design strategies in southern subtropical climate zone ofchina, will also be reconclusioned. The architectural design method of southern subtropical climate zone in china andcase study are given.(2) Interact with the micro-climate of the built environment, through a number ofprojects in series with the superposition of the "green" effect, played the role of urbanecological restoration certain extent.Thematic studies made for three-dimensional green, respectively, from the urban andarchitectural monomer two different latitudes on the importance of the accessibility ofgreen spaces; gives the basic design principles embedded three-dimensional green. And the implementation of the above theory to design indemnificatory housinggiven in Chapter5.(3) Focus on application of traditional building ecological experience in architecturalcreation. Focus on the establishment and maintenance of neighborhood relations inthe design of residential buildings, to enhance the health (mental health) of the builtenvironment.Three programs of indemnificatory housing design will be given. What will showhow to ues “QiLou”, the traditional architectural forms, rainwater harvesting,three-dimensional green, and neighborhood shared space in modern architecturedesign. The programs will also be analysed and compared, to prove the universalarchitectural design method of southern subtropical climate zone in china is effective. As the first research of the universal architectural design method of southernsubtropical climate zone in china, the conclusions of this thesis are valuable in the following aspects: Gives scientific guidance for the green building practices in designmethod and techniques. Promotes green building standards.
