With the rapid development of the economy and large-scale urbanism, cities in ourcountry are universally faced with the newly expansion of the scale and adjustment ofurban spatial structure. How to achieve efficient and sustainable development,"Urbanspatial development pattern" has become hot in the academic circle.Resource-based cities have made great contributions for China’s rapiddevelopment. But with the exploitation of resources, more and more resource-basedcities are in the situation of resource exhaustion. In the21st century, China’s resourceexhausted cities in transition have been carrying out the work. Along with industrialrestructuring, urban spatial development pattern also will be changed. The developmentof resource-based cities is a process that urban space scale is constantly growing, thaturban space structure is constantly optimizing, that urban space function is continuouslyimproving. The systemic study on the development rules and operating mechanism ofthis urban space in trouble, and finding reasonable control ideas and measures, as wellas in order to create a good carrier system for resource-based cities transformation bythe way of urban spatial development optimization are all have important significancein theory and practice.In the theoretical part, this paper takes the domestic and overseas urban spatialdevelopment theory as the foundation of research, and attempts to study the pros andcons of " Urban spatial development pattern " from the perspective of the spaceperformance evaluation. Different from the traditional qualitative analysis, performanceevaluation promotes a kind of brand-new, rational and quantifiable method for researchon the space development. Combing through domestic development model of urba space related research, the development of urban space in the preliminary selection ofthe land use, spatial patterns and traffic organization greater impact on these threeaspects of a feature layer as an evaluation system. Sustainable development in bothurban space as a performance goal, the compactness and diversity as an alternativeindicator layer principle, to further select affecting urban space relatively high degree ofperformance-related parameters to construct urban space performance evaluation system.Evaluation system includes12indicators factor, on this basis, by reference to therelevant standards of international and domestic evaluation index system to determinethe standard value of each index; Using a combination of qualitative and quantitativeAHP to determine the evaluation index system of each index weights, cross each otherindexes in dimensionless processed using additive synthesis, in order to calculate thelevel of performance of urban space comprehensive evaluation index.In the empirical research component, select undergoing a transformation ofresource-based cities---Jiaozuo as an object of study commenced. Jiaozuo is the firstbatch of12resource-exhausted cities, to get rid of “MINE DECLINING” destiny, whohave made a successful transformation of the city positive efforts. With the adjustmentof industrial structure, the changing nature of the city, the spatial pattern of Jiaozuo citycenter has undergone tremendous changes. This paper is the use of space createdPerformance Evaluation System, for different stages of the development of city to adoptdifferent spatial state space model performance evaluation and comparative analysis,based on evaluation results indicate that the process of development in Jiaozuo city maybe due to space configuration which led to hinder urban development factor. Combiningof the domestic and international advanced theories and case in urban spatialdevelopment, the result of the analysis can provide decision support for the sustainabledevelopment of the urban space in Jiaozuo during the transformation.
