Traction substation is one of the key parts of the traction power supply system. Monitoring, measurement and control for the substation equipment and some other functions are realized through traction substation integrated automation system using computer technology, modern electronic technology, communication technology and other technologies. Data gateway is a significant part of both the substation automation system and the railway power feeding dispatching automation, and plays an important role in both systems.The proposal and realization of integrated monitoring and control system in intelligent substation improve the function of substation, whose management method is also more advanced. Meanwhile, the application of data communication gateway provides support for the realization of integrated monitoring platform.In accordance with the technology of intelligent substation, integrated monitoring system for intelligent substation under IEC61850 standard is analyzed in this paper and requirements analysis for substation data gateway is also put forward, followed by the introduction of configuration setting of data gateway in the traction substation integrated automation system. Then, hardware requirements of the data gateway is introduced to meet the network structure of traction substation. In traditional ways, special channels is needed or some review terminals similar with SCADA need to be developed to check the substation information when maintenance and management are conducted by relevant departments. As for the above problem, the functions of telecontrol communication unit and vascular communications unit from traditional substation are combined for the embedded system of data gateway is compatible with B/S mode. Traction substation data gateway management system, which makes management and maintenance personnel can access data gateway through browsers to check and manage substation equipment, can help improve work efficiency.Finally, checking of functions of the data gateway management system like remote communication, remote measurement, faults report, time report, self-checking report, device information, and settings is realized through testing practical devices, which can do great help to practical work in substation and provide clear direction for future designs of the data gateway with multiple functions.
