As an important part of the urban traffic system, intersection is not only the key of road traffic, but also the focal point of traffic conflicts. Traffic conflicts, as the external manifestations of the unsafe condition of intersection, not only influence the efficiency of intersection, but also lead to traffic accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to study the factors of traffic conflicts to improve the safety of intersection. This paper focuses on two-phase signal intersection and studies the factors of traffic conflicts between vehicles. Firstly, this paper analyses and summaries the basic theory of traffic conflict. It identifies the traffic conflict of two-phase signal intersection, divides the traffic conflict types and determines the post encroachment time (PET) as the index of the severity of traffic conflict. Secondly, this paper develops a survey schedule for traffic intersection conflict-related data. The author adopts the logistic regression and the data from the field to make model. Therefore, the anthor gets the results that the traffic volume of straight cars and turn-left cars, the proportion of large vehicles among straight cars and turn-left cars are the major factors of straight-left traffic conflict. Meanwhile, the traffic volume of straight cars and turn-right cars, the proportion of large vehicles among straight cars and the vehicle lanes of adjacent intersection are the major factors of vehicle-merge conflict. The traffic volume of straight cars, turn-right cars, turn-left cars and the imported lanes are the major factors of vehicle-diverge conflict. Finally, the author puts forward to some corresponding recommendations in order to improve the safety of intersection.
