TVM (ticket vending machine) is not only one of the most important service facilities in metro station, it is also the key to gurantee the station’s normally operation. Actually in some stations phenomena that equipments stay ilde and resources being wasted always exist, but in some other stations congestions occur even in non-peak period, ticketing system operating not so smoothly, and level of service is extremely low. All of these exposed the shortage in automatic ticket machines’configuration, thus needing to be supported by relative application theories. Through retrieval analysis and practical research on literatures both domestic and abroad, the main reason is found. And what cause these drawbacks is the ignorance of the randomness and fluctuations of passengers’arrival, stochastic of the service law, capacity constraints and level of service of the queueing system when configuring the number of TVM.This paper analyzes the research situations of configuration of the TVM, obtained relevant data through field survey, studied the distribution of the passengers’arrival time interval and the service ability of the TVM, then used mathematical derivation method and through the simulation experimengs to get the optimal configure number of the TVM in different level of service in the automatic ticketing system with capacity constraints. On the basis of thses work, conducted further optimal research work on the configuration number of the TVM considering layout the machines. In concrete terms, the main research contents and achievements of this paper are as follow:(1) Abstracted the automatic ticketing process into a queueing system with one single obvious service desk whose service law is state correlation. Transformed passengers’ maximum waiting time into the capacity constraint of the queueing system, and using per capita area in waiting area to get the service level of the queueing system.(2) Obtained passenger’s arrival time interval and TVMs’service time in metro station through filed survey, and fit out the distribution form after statistical analysis of the survey data, using mathematical method to derive out the corresponding parameters, and thus laying foundation for the simulation and optimization experiments.(3) Got the optimal TVM number of different level of service on the basis of the Anylgic software, and verified the reliability and micro validation of the optimization results, so the optimal allocation number of the TVM in subway station that fully considered the randomness and level of service is obtained.(4) Considering layout of the machines, this paper transformed the relationship of best allocation number of TVM in different layout into relationship of parameters of service time distribution. Then use the reducted parameters to conduct optimization experiments and then got the desired configuration number considering equipment layout. At last conducted experimental comparison use parameters transformed from statistics as well as the deduction method to demonstrate the feasibility of the conversion results. So obtained the optimal configuration number of TVM that fully considered of randomness, level of service and jointly with layout of the machines in metro station.
