Research And Practice Of Project Management In Ningbo Intelligent Public Transport System

With rapid development of China’s economy, a series of problems, such as traffic jams and congestion, environmental pollution and traffic safety, have hindered the sustainable development of social economy.In order to deal with urban communications, many domestic transportation enterprises and high-tech computer companies have been actively promoting the construction of intelligent transport system. The informatization of domestic transportation enterprises is with a later start, lacking managerial experience in implementing information system, which results in the worse construction quality. Nowadays, the number of bus information system projects has been on an increase. Thus, it has become a focus problem for transportation enterprises that how to improve the success rate of the implementation of information system.Based on the theory of Project Lifecycle emphasized in modern project management, combining with the characteristics of system construction as well as the actual situation of Ningbo buses, by means of combining theories with practices, the author sorts out and summarizes the domestic and foreign literature and latest academic results, making a study on the process and methods used in the implementation of Project Lifecycle and project management in the intelligent public transport system. Taking the demand for Ningbo intelligent public transport system as the cutting point, by means of analysis and design of Ningbo intelligent public transport system, the author shows the use procedures, methods and skills used in the project management at initial stage. Then by analyzing the project scope of Ningbo intelligent public transport system, the author formulates a detailed plan for project management. By means of project schedule control, range adjustment, quality control and risk control, the author shows the methods and techniques used for project management in the actual implementation of the project. Finally, by evaluating and concluding the implementation effect of the case, the author lists the problems in implementation of information system, putting forward suggestions for project implementation.On the basis of implementation of Ningbo intelligent public transport system, it is illustrated that IT project management, methods and tools will better control the time, quality and cost of project implementation, improving the success rate as well as protecting enterprises’investment. In the final part, the author points out the limitations as well as existing problems of the paper.
