In the actual railway construction environment, there are many uncertain factors. Naturally, the safety management process of railway construction has some risks, which will directly threaten the human life and the project quality without effective control measures.Therefore, the ability improvement of risk management has been an important part of project management in railway construction projects. In terms of practicality, the ability improvement of risk management in railway construction projects is urgent. This paper hasstudied the construction safety risk grid management and application of railway construction projects, according to a thorough analysis of the actual construction characteristics and risk control level.On the basis of the linear construction characteristics of railway construction projects, this paper proposes the concept of risk grid and risk grid management for the railway construction project. From the perspective of time and space, according to certain standards, the construction line is divided into a number of grid cells by the coordinate system, which aims to provide exact risk information, risk occurrence time and location included.Based on risk management grid, this paper presents G-WBS-RBS risk management method. By analyzing the risk grid of construction activities, this method can identify risk events and risk events timely. Further, G-WBS-RBS risk tree is established to match the risk grid and construction work with risk. So the potential risk of certain construction activity can be obtained from the corresponding grid.The construction risk index is proposed and further applied to build the construction safety risk assessment model. And the construction risk that may occur in the risk grid of construction activities is assessed qualitatively and displayed visually in order to help monitor the high risk areas and take effective control measures.The authors through participation "Nanjing West Railway construction safety construction of the second project risk management research" project, design and development,"Nanjing-Xi’an Railway Expansion Project Construction Safety Risk Management Information System", with the theory and model of the system proposed verify, to get good results.A safety risk management information system is designed and developed for the NingXi railway expansion project. With the system, the performance of the method and model mentioned above is verified well.
