Design Research And Practice Based On The Culture Of Traditional Residence In Fujian

Due to the influence of various reasons, Fujian residential enjoys distinctive localfeatures and rich connotation of the construction among traditional local-styledwelling houses in China. Most Fujian traditional dwellings has not been preserved incity nowadays, but in rural areas of Fujian, the dwelling houses still maintain thecharacteristics of traditional dwellings, which adopt local raw material and followtraditional style.This design is a dormitory apartment plan of a plant and the users are industrialworkers which mostly from Fujian rural areas based on an investigation. The new cityworking life brings them a sense of exclusion. This design is aimed to meet the dailylife demand as well as their social and psychological needs at same time. Therefore,the introduction of Fujian traditional folk house element in their living environmentwould establish the links between users and feeling of "home".The design attempts to integrate Fujian traditional folk house element into themodern residential space. The key of the study is to apply traditional residence cultureadvantages in the spatial design and adopt the traditional residential culture elementsin the modeling. The main focus of this design is the extraction of Fujian traditionalfolk house element, and then through the inheritance of traditional dwelling houses ofcreative idea, digging out valuable design of modern living space, so as to explore thecontinuation of traditional spirit.This design is expected through the introduction of traditional houses factors,provides psychological comfort to the users from rural areas; and through spacedesign of the communication space, contributed to the communication of users.Modeling design adapts to the users’ aesthetic needs with the surrounding cityscapeat the same. It also integrated the Fujian residential culture elements, so that thecollective living groups could find the cultural and psychological sense of belonging.Considering the climate condition of Fujian which enjoys a long summer and shortwinter, the living space is mainly according to the summer climate conditions of the design, through the reasonable organization of ventilation, so that the living spacecould be more comfortable and energy conservation.
