Research On The Relationship Between The Residential District Sense Of Belonging And The Planning Design

The residential district is the primary living space and ingredient of a city, it has the most important significance, no matter for the city or the people in there.Influenced by the function planning of modernism, the residential district planning design always ignore the residents'emotion need for a long time, and it lead to the general lack of community emotion in residential district at the present time, the residents'emotion need doesn't get full satisfaction, to appear the residents'sense of safety crisis, sense of communication is weak, sense of behavior comfort blocked, sense of accomplishment become indifferent, lack of the memory impress in residential district and so on. The author thinks it has a very important theoretical and practical significance to push the residential district planning design from the standpoint of community emotion which has the same as the sense of belonging.Based on the author's field investigation, the paper mostly discuss some basic theoretical problem of the community sense of belonging and the residential district planning, conclude five emotion elements'mental support in material space such as the sense of safety, communication, comfort, identification, accomplishment, and especially discuss the contents of planning design and the methods to satisfy these emotions.To satisfy the residents'sense of safety, the author proposes that the residential district should be controlled. The planning should control the scale and space shape for the residential district. Against the residential district border space should be enclosed well and get some penetration; the internal space should make a domainal and hierarchical design, light environment design, road traffic control, and all the space should be watched by the people naturally.To satisfy the residents'sense of comfort, the author proposes that the planning must satisfy the residents'dual comfort, especially the behavior comfort. It is required to improve the consciousness comfort of the residential district environment and it must have friendly walking environment, behavior facility accord with mental option, place the behavior place to meet a requirement in the residential district.To realize the residents'sense of communication, the author proposes the social place's creation and design accord with the behavior and the mentality. The creation of social place such as place special old man and children place, derivative place of the daily life action place, set transition place, other various place and so on. The communication place design should consider the privacy, function compound, the people easy to go, and the response of the place consciousness for people.To improve the residents'sense of identification, the author proposes that the planning should control the individuation and the terrain characteristic design.To improve the residents'sense of accomplishment, the author proposes that it should encourage the residents to discuss and communicate with the designer in the process of planning, detecting planning formation that the residents volunteer to manage.On this basis, the author proposes the concept of"emotion residential district", conclude eight principles of"emotion residential district"planning design: the place composition match with mental response; the place dimension and location controlled; the environment composition is proper and comfort; public living and behavior freely; various chance of communicate and place; priority for the children and the old people's emotion; architecture figure and individuality expression; public participation in the process of planning.
