Since the21st century, to build the safe, stable, economic friendly, clean andhigh quality smart grid has become the focus in electricity research of our country.As the core unit in the advanced measurement system AMI of smart grid,multi-function and high precision is the development direction of smart meters.With the popularization of the promotion of energy measurement automation andlarge user meter reading, and the full implementation of the national peakaverting electricity price policy, three-phase electronic energy meter rapidincrease in demand. At the same time according to the analysis of different meterreading technology in the current power distribution network, this paper designeda networked energy meter with the future of multifunctional, high accuracy, highreliability.Firstly, the overseas and domestic research status of smart grid and smartmeters were analyzed and summarized, and the development trend of futurenetworked electric meter is also described. Comparing the advantages anddisadvantages of various design methods, the functions, technical indexes andhardware architectures of the networked electric meter are final presented. Thehardware architecture uses a dedicated metering chip ADE7758, MCU and GPRScommunication module. The modular design principle is adopted in the design ofthe entire system, and the hardware circuit design, circuit schematics, softwaredesign process and program flow are detailed given for each module. Comparedwith the traditional meters, the proposed networked electric meter do not onlyhave the electricity metering function, time-sharing measurement, maximumdemand metering, prepayment and other functions, the introduction of GPRStechnology also enables remote power data transmission, so the wirelesscommunication capability is achieved. In addition, due to the use of the matureGPRS public network platform, this system has advantages of strong real-time, fast data collection, big transmission capacity, widely range of meter reading andlow cost.Since the ADE7758debugging performance directly affects the precision ofsystem, the paper finally introduced how to set the ADE7758internal calibrationregister values to achieve the calibration of ADE7758. From the analysis of thetest results, the corrected network multifunctional electric energy meter’s activeenergy measurement precision can reach up to0.2S class, and its reactive energymeasurement precision can reach up to2class. The results show that thenetworked energy meter designed in this paper is feasible, and it is suitable forwide application in high-precision measurement and monitoring of industrialelectrical energy.
