With the rapid development of modern detecting technology, the Chinese militaryindustrial enterprises have increasing detection requirements on various critical dimensions ofthe projectile body. Limited by the structural features of projectile body, manual contactmeasurement is adopted generally. This method, however, is featured by single detection type,tedious processes. And the detection precision is greatly affected by human factors, and failsto meet the detection requirement of mass production, high precision and high efficiency forthe manufacturer of projectile bodies. Hence, according to the status of development ofdetection technology at home and abroad as well as enterprise’s requirement on inspectionequipment, it is an urgent task to develop projectile body dimensional measurement system.Based on the analysis and classification of various dimension of the projectile bodies,this article realizes the task of simultaneously online detecting the dimension projectile bodyby adopting the detection method of station division. First, according to the structural featuresof various dimensions and requirement of detection precision, appropriate measuringinstruments are selected. Principle of measurement of various dimensions and detection flowsare analyzed. Two-station and five-station measuring equipments are designed respectively torealize the combination of multi-dimension parameter detection process. The selection ofpneumatic gauge head is involved in the detection of inner diameter. Through the way ofestablishing the mathematical model of curved nozzle-flapper mechanism, this article obtainsthe structural parameters of pneumatic gauge head, providing basis for the selection ofpneumatic gauge head. Taking the overall detection efficiency of the system and research costinto consideration, this article designs loading device, conveyer and unloading sorting deviceaccording to the system solutions. Second, according to the modes of information transfer in various parts of the system,this article designs the control system that is centered on PLC; detailedly elaborates theoverall operating form and data collection process of the system; completes the statistics ofI/O points and A/D number of conversion channels required in the system; as well asaccomplishes the selection of PLC and establishment of control circuit. In the meantime,according to the requirement of inner diameter detection on the stability of air pressure, gasclosed-loop steady pressure circuit is designed. Besides, this paper develops the monitorsoftware of upper computer by taking advantages of Windows high level programminglanguage C#. In this way, control of system operation as well as collection of detecting dataand real-time dynamic display will be realized. Simultaneously, based on the ACCESSdatabase, this article completes the storage of measurement data and detection result.In the end, according to the automatic detection system of projectile body which hasbeen developed successfully, analysis of uncertainty of measurement has been conducted onthe system by carrying out linearity, repeatability and stability experiments. Evaluation will begiven on the usability and detection precision of the system.
