Car as the most important tools of transport of our times played a huge role in thedevelopment of the world economy. However, with the rapid development of theautomobile industry, it also produced a series of negative impacts: The world’s energycrisis, serious environmental pollution. How to improve the car’s fuel economy,effectively reducing the fuel consumption has been the focus of attention of the wholesociety. To Improve fuel economy of the vehicle, should take accurately measure the fuelconsumption as a precondition. At present, the traditional quality method and volumemethod is still as the primary measurement method of the vehicle fuel consumption test.There are some drawbacks of these two measurements, on the one hand, when measuringmust to change the engine oil line, such an action would destroy the original structure ofthe car, does not comply with the principle of non-disintegration of the test car, and in thegrafting process will result in the increase of measurement error. On the other hand,traditional measurement methods detection for a long time low efficiency.To solve these problems, this paper read a lot of literatures, and on the basis proposedthe method to measure the car’s fuel consumption based on carbon balance method. In therelated study of the carbon balance method mostly take petrol cars as the object of study,But diesel vehicles has played a crucial role in the trucking industry, but diesel vehicleshas played a crucial role in the trucking industry. So this thesis take a diesel car as theresearch object, derived carbon balance method model for diesel vehicles, and test on realvehicle to verification. The experiment proved that the carbon balance method model canaccurately measure the fuel consumption of diesel vehicles. Specific studies are asfollows:(1)Introduced the research background and significance of diesel carbon balancemethod, and the current research. Combined with relevant domestic and internationalresearch describes the advantages of carbon balance method with the traditional testingmethods compared, as well as diesel fuel consumption test the feasibility of using carbonbalance method. (2) By analyzing the diesel combustion process and exhaust components, establishedthe basic model of the carbon balance method.(3) Established the experimental design adapted to model, details of the test programlayout and design of the hardware and software parts. Through real vehicle tests gotmeasuring fuel consumption and the actual value using this model.(4) The test results were analyzed and found that the error is relatively large, thenfurther consideration to the characteristics of diesel exhaust: the carbon particles has alarger proportion in the exhaust gas. Thereby to modify the model and tested for correctionmodel, findings of the trial, once again test result analysis, concluded that the modifiedmodel can accurately measure the fuel consumption of diesel vehicles.(5) Summarizes the experimental error, and prospected the next work.
