Ship engine room monitoring and alarm system is important to assure the safety of ship navigation. With the development of computer technology, network technology and control technology, ship engine room monitoring and alarm systems in information technology, intelligent put forward higher requirements.In view of the application requirements of engine room monitoring and alarm system, with Siemens S7-300PLC as the core controller to design a set of ship engine room monitoring and alarm system. First of all, before making system designed to collect a lot of information in related fields, and foreign-related products were studied. At the same time, requirements and specifications about ship engine room monitoring and alarm system of China classification society are researched. On this basis, according to the system’s overall planning, the schedule of monitoring points of the engine room monitoring and alarm system is worked out, the types of monitoring stations are divided, the monitoring signal input/output addresses and the stored addresses in the CPU are determined, and according to the system requirements PLC hardware modules are selected. Then, the lower machine PLC program is designed with STEP7.Before program designing, the hardware configuration is completed. In the hardware configuration window, in accordance with the hardware configuration rules the hardware module is added to the frame in the corresponding slot, and then set the functional features of various modules. After the completion of the hardware configuration, alarm program design. Using ladder diagram and SCL language design the program with modular design concept. The program of digital data collection, analog data acquisition, digital processing, analog processing and alarm processing put in different system functions, and then in the organization block OBI in order to call FC. Each function in the circulation organization block OBI executes cycle. This approach increases the readability and modification of the procedure. Interactive interface is designed with Siemens SIMATIC WinCC configuration software. Communication connection between WinCC and PLC system is established. Variables are set up under the communication connection so that data exchanging is come true between WinCC and PLC system. After analyzing the relationship between each picture connection, configuration of pictures is achieved, enriching functionality combined with VB script. The function of each interface is introduced simply. Finally, using STEP7S7-PLCSIM simulation software in the PLC debug the program of lower computer and upper computer, and both of them were modified and optimized.During the development process software and hardware of the system is studied in-depth. The design of the system meet to the requirements of the engine room monitoring and alarm system, meet to the development of engine room monitoring and alarm system’s modularization, informationization and intelligent requirements.
